Cubs Win!
Long Time, no post
A busy Spring and Summer! To celebrate our 25th. Joe Hirte , my sisters and Stacy set up a little surprise party! I was so ill from a spider bite, that I almost did not attend. Thanks to all for the party! For Berri's birthday, Jesse and took her to a baseball game at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Trip included dinner at Harry Carey's Steak house. Yum yum! The Jesse got laid off at his job. INFO-NXX closed its Tucson Operation unexpectedly, so Mr. Jesse is in the job market. Berri is still grinding away at the VA. Wednesday mornings she goes in early to participate in "Toastmasters". My sister Pat is also a member of the "Pre-Dawn"chapter of Toastmasters. Cousin Robber (Robert) graduated from High School and is working in the Pharmacy at Walgreen's. The IRS says I owe more money than I have ever seen. Has to do with my Kuwait employment. Otherwise all is well!

Thanksgiving Day Message
Another year fades. Football and yummy Turkey are on our minds. The Army / Navy game approaches, GO ARMY! Yeaaaaaaaaaay!
On this special day, please remember those special folks who are enjoying their Turkey on foreign soil. Our troops will eat well today, so please hoist a toast to those who are serving, and as always, one to our absent companions.
SGT Solomon Johnson RIP Germany (Cold War)

We will have the pleasure of dining with family and friends again this year. My sister PatÂs father in law, MAJ (Ret) Darrell Marshall is hosting. And Pat and her Husband Brad are doing the lionÂs share of the cooking, so it will be a Turkey Day to remember!
Please accept our wish for a safe and happy Thanksgiving Day where ever you are!

Here is a link sent to me by COL (Ret) Curtis Wrenn, a gentleman who was my boss for about 5 years in the Army. This speech runs about 12 min, however it will make you proud to be an American. Disregard the security certificate error.

In the Land of Arnold
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
Another visit to The Peoples Republik of Kalifornia. Berri & I spent a lovely 4 day and 3 nights in Ocean Beach. OB as the locals call it, is an ocean community of San Diego, kind of a cross between 4th Avenue in Tucson, and a beach. Lots of hippy skum populate the streets. Mostly harmless, unwashed vagabonds, laced with enough of a criminal element to keep away the “Marvin J. Middleclass” types. I guess if I was homeless, I would select such a place if for no other reason, the climate.
On this trip we did not rent a car. We traveled to the Ocean Beach Hotel by taxi.
http://www.obhotel.com/
Our transportation needs were met using the excellent local transport system. The # 35 bus runs from OB to the train station at “Old Town” From the “Bahnhof” you can easily link up with the city Train system, the regional Train, or Amtrak.

http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak/HomePage
Again we trained in to watch the Diamondbacks lose to the Red-Hot San Diego Padres. Petco Park is a pleasure to visit. The Blue or Orange lines of the San Diego Trolley system deliver you right to the parking lot. The facility is located right in downtown, a short walk from the harbor nightlife area.
Food is always important to the fat man. We dined in the bier garten of the Kaiserhof
Restaurant. As Tucson no longer has a decent German joint, we look forward to this almost as much as the cool salt air!
http://kaiserhofrestaurant.com/
Other food was obtained at Hodad”s, The Pizza Joint, In and Out Burger and O’Bee’s on Newport. Yummy to say the least. Our beverage needs were met at Bullfrog’s Tavern, the Sunshine Company Saloon Ltd, and several other local establishments. Yummy!

LinkSt David Tigers!
The Tigers eat Patagonia!
On Friday, Berri ventured to the town of St. David, AZ to watch our Nephew Robert play football. Robert is the starting center and defensive lineman. Yes, some schools still play guys both ways. After a brief scare, Patagonia scored first, it was the Tigers all the way. The final score 42 to 20. After last week’s victory at Ajo, the tigers are 2 and 0.
Berri was not the only out of town fan. Stacy Grant and his Son Diario ventured all the way from “Sodom on the Salt” to enjoy the victory!
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaay Tigers.
More Tiger news…. My niece Catherine is a member of the Lady Tigers volleyball team. She also plays trumpet in the Tiger Band so………Double Yeaaaaaaay

Another day and 37.5 cents more! Citicard decided to promote me to the High Risk Queue. Think its 40 cents an hour more, however the work is a little slower paced, and the folks are great, as they were in 1&2.
Mr. Jesse is doing well at his new position. Jesse will enter Pima College in the winter session. General studies to begin with.
Strawberri is still going strong at the VA. She is a member of the Toastmasters International, and was recently recognized as a “Competent Communicator” by that organization.
The weather has taken a temporary cooling spell thanks to Hurricane “John”
Well that’s it for now, prayers for our troops, friends and family!

The summer
Another long dragging summer! Our summer rains started early and are heavier than usual. This really bites as we are using the “Swamp Cooler”, and no that is not a new trendy drink, it’s a device that cools your house using water. Works fine in “a dry heat” however this year we have humidity, lots of it, so I have been going to afternoon movies on my days off to mooch a.c.
Strawberri’s brother has been released from the hospital, and is doing much better. Mr. Jesse has changed jobs; He is now employed by an outfit called Info-NXX. The facility is 4 blocks from Casa de Gringo Loco, so Mr. J can walk to work. All good news
My employment status is still good. Citi is a fine place to work. A possible change is on the horizon, however too many “what if’s” to report now. More to follow.
Baseball!
The Diamondbacks are in the thick of the race. Despite losing several key players to the big league, the Sidewinders are 12 games in front in their division. We will fly to San Diego and See the D-Backs whoop up on the Padres in September, and the Booster Club has another trip scheduled to got to “Sodom on the Salt” to see another game in Sept. So Berri will be on Cloud-9 next month.
More to follow!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaay,
Back in April, I got Strawberri a membership in the Tucson Sidewinders Booster Club for a birthday gift. As part of the deal, we got to attend a Diamondback game at a seriously reduced fee. We left Tucson Electric Park in a comfortable, modern, motor coach. Our journey to “Sodom on the Salt” was smooth and uneventful. We were delivered to the gate about 20 minutes prior to first pitch. The seats were awesome! Section 205, and the game was a slug fest>>>>8 runs scored in the first inning. The bad news was the final, Seattle 11 and the Diamondbacks 7
Other news: Berri’s Brother Oman is in the hospital again, and as such Berri is leaving tonight on an unscheduled deployment to Savannah. If you are the praying type prayers are in order. More to follow!

Long Time no Blog!!
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
Things are good. Work continues to roll, the 4 X 10 work schedule is fuckin “A” awesome!!!! Mr. Jesse is still unemployed, although he has some prospects. Strawberri and I went to Breakers water park, and the “White Whale” got some fresh water exposure. Funny thing, I got the Sunburn. Usually, Strawberri with her pale ass skin is the one who fries. Go figure; guess I am becoming a pussy in my old age?
Berri bought herself a new car, another PT Cruiser; this one is candy-apple red. Nice auto. Got that Fancy assed satellite radio free for one year. Pretty nice.
Well folks please pray for our troops, and drink a toast to “absent companions”!

A real Hero
In honor of Memorial Day please scroll down in the blog and read the citation of SPC Micheaux Saunders Silver Star medal. Shame is that this or other exploits of pure bravery do not appear in our mainstream news.

Excellent Vacation!!
Strawberri & I took a four day pass and ventured into the "People's Republic of Kalifornia". We stayed in Ocean Beach, a San Diego area that looks like a cross between 4th Avenue in Tucson, and a Beach, or to put it another way, a run down beach area. At least the vagrants were polite, with a "have a nice day" after my suggestion that they get a job. On 4th avenue the Hippy Skum usually ask me to engage in a sex act with my Mother.
We flew out on the "air-bus" ,,no silly, not those nice Frog Aircraft, Southwest. http://www.southwest.com/ Which is tolerable for a 65 minute flight. Rented a Dodge intrepid from Alamo, http://www.alamo.com/ and stayed at the Ocean Beach Hotel, a well located facility, all you have to do is cross the street, and you are at the beach. Within walking distance are at least 5 dive bars, several "Head" shops, and some really good chow!
We found a really Superior German food joint called "Kaiserhof" The chow was really close however the joint was pricy. However because Tucson no longer has a German joint, it hit the spot and scratched the itch! http://kaiserhofrestaurant.com/.
We returned in time to see Mr. Jesse graduate from High School. This is a truly proud moment for me. We were pleasantly surprised by the attendance of Mr. Stacy Grant, who drove down from Phoenix for the event, and MSG (Ret) USAF Will Himes, our neighbor and longtime friend and mentor.

I found this article to be a ray of hope in the curtain of doom and gloom the mainstream media likes to paint about Iraq.
SPC Micheaux Saunders of "C" Company, 2nd BN, 37th ARMOR, 1AD V Corps stands in formation after receiving the Silver Star during a ceremony at Wiesbaden, Germany.
"His tank platoon, prepared for transport and as so not combat loaded was sent on an emergency mission to relieve an ambushed cavalry patrol in Iraq. When insurgents opened fire on the tanks with small arms and rocket propelled grenades (RPG), he stood, exposed to enemy fire, and fired everything he had back at them. An enemy bullet struck him in the arm, passing through his shoulder, but he waved off the medics. When he ran out of ammunition, he threw rocks."
His actions earned him the Silver Star.
